We talked about different tools to use - for example, the 1,5,8,5,8 riff, or the country 1,5,1,5. We also practiced coming down on the note from above and up from below.
We talked about playing higher on the fretboard-- the 12th fret with two dots is the spot to reorient as if you're playing on a shorter necked bass... from there (and in the normal place on the neck) you can also play an octave above by resetting "1" as the BIG L shape higher.

We went over the music for two Sundays away, and practised playing up an octave at places, etc.

Corwin is going every second week now.
November 2nd, 2020
Corwin and I worked through a few new features of the bass and neck: position of "5" relative to any note (like an L, up two frets and one string), and position of the octave, "8" relative to any note (up two frets, and two strings).
We also talked about playing extra ornamental parts when playing up high on the neck, and lead in notes starting either below or above the target note... so if you're going to play a 1, coming at it from a 7 (7 -> 1) or from a 2 (2 -> 1).
The key is staying with in the "scale," the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 frets in which the song is located.
October 26th, 2020
Corwin and I went through the songs for Sunday - I wrote out the numbers on his printout of the songs... we will get together again after he's gone through them a few times and feels comfortable.
