Today Courtney came in in Brady's place, and we went all over the map, connecting dots and filling in gaps in her musical knowledge.

Note: I think she accidentally took one of my capos with her at the end of the lesson.

Brady didn't have his book today, so we did some more practising of chords, especially focusing on changing between chords like E minor to G, A minor to C, etc.

At the end of the lesson I showed him some songs by a channel on Facebook that puts chords on songs. Here's Faded by Alan Walker:

We continued working through the chords this week, and tried adding Circles by Post Malone, which requires switching between C and F.

There was some difficulty with that, so we changed direction, and just worked on switching chords for the rest of the lesson.

We reviewed the chords we were working on last week, did some strumming practise, and switched between some of them. We then added three new chords: A, C, and F major 7th.

The last two are the chords for our first song,

In Brady's lesson we did some racing on the E minor, G, A minor, and D chords.
We also did some strumming and I suggested some things to help with changing chords (leaving some fingers in place where possible).

See you in TWO weeks! :)

Brady has a nice new guitar! We tuned it up, and then went through the parts of the guitar. We then played E minor and G together, and did the transition between the chords.

I then wrote out two new chords for him: A minor and D

We made a little song that he could practise playing through at home. I encouraged him to skip the last few strums to give him time to switch to the next chord.

February 6th, 2024

This was Brady's first week. We learned the parts of the guitar, which are:
Head, machine heads, nut, neck, frets, fret bars, fret board, body, sound hole, pick guard, saddle, bridge, strap

We also learned two chords: Eminor and G.

He seemed to be having fun, but at the end, I think he wasn't sure he wanted to keep going. :) Let me know how things went for him.

Thanks!
